Jon Fosse, who is the best-known Norwegian contemporary playwright, created with this prize-awarded trilogy highly poetic and musical stories about a modern Mary and Joseph couple: In need they search for a place to stay. Love and the longing for a better life pushes Olav to commit a murder, while Asta is left alone with her son. Both enmesh themselves in a guiltless guilt. Luk Perceval, one of the most important European directors, developed his own stage version of the trilogy for Norway.
